project skittles

do you recall this photo, from valentine’s day?

well, i decided i wanted a bit of a change up.  i had been enamoured of a certain silly style since seeing it done really well on a friend.  i’ve basically been wanting to do this thing for years, and should have done it long ago.

i finally got all the proper supplies together, and did everything in two sessions.

first, i had to correct the several months of root growth, of course.

Then, after a couple of days’ wait, i settled in for something i’d never done before, really: painting my hair, section by section.  i ended up looking pretty amusing:

you can see i managed to get much of it on my face.  and it’s strong stuff; my face still has pink patches about it.  sorry about the bad lighting…my studio is dark at the best of times, and these photos were taken at night.

and, here’s a picdump of the final results:

as you can see, project skittles was quite a success.

i think though, that if i ever try this again, the red will go in the back rather than the front, and i will pick up a much deeper blue (because honestly, it ended up looking like another shade of green).  and, it took *forever* to do on my own.  i’m worried that the back probably has rough patches of blonde just hanging out. nothing a good hair clip can’t hide!

oh, and how to complete a project like this?

oh yes, we do nothing half-assed in this house.
